Local Farmer Serves as The Land Group’s Agricultural Specialist

Carroll County Native Jeremy Bertier

UNION BRIDGE, MD – DECEMBER 6, 2019 – Carroll County native Jeremy Bertier has teamed up with The Land Group (TLG), a land brokerage and consulting firm serving Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. Bertier serves as TLG’s agricultural specialist, combining his experience in crop insurance and nutrient management to assist his clients.

Bertier was born and raised on his families 165-acre farm in Union Bridge, MD. He and his wife currently farm this land and operate it as a diverse operation consisting of 75 head of angus cattle, a group of Berkshire pigs, non-GMO row crops and premium quality hay and pasture.

“Jeremy’s agricultural knowledge provides an important perspective in understanding agriculture and the economics behind profitable and sustainable ag operations,” said Ben Alder, Founder of The Land Group. “More than half of our client base is comprised of farmers, and to have a team member that is a farmer himself and understands the ins and outs of farm operations is invaluable to our clients.”

After graduating from the University of Maryland at College Park with his Ag Business Management degree, Bertier worked for Synagro, the nation’s largest biosolids and residuals management company. During his tenure he managed the Western Maryland land base, working with farmers and regulators on land permitting and regulation compliance. He then worked for Old Line Environmental, a company focused on turning waste into a valuable post-consumer product that could be used for landscaping and government improvement projects.

“Agriculture has always been one of my biggest passions in life. Anyone that grew up on the land can relate to that. It’s one of the driving forces that keeps me pushing to find opportunities to expand my knowledge and gain experience with anything ag-related,” said Jeremy. “Every job and every challenge have led to an education that I can use to not only better my operation but hopefully something that I can pass along to others. This next step with The Land Group is a way for me to use those experiences to keep land going into the hands of those that will feed, fuel and clothe us into the future.”

The Land Group provides land brokerage and consulting services throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The “We Sell Dirt” group represents the largest portfolio of land available to purchase in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia, totaling approximately 30,000 acres. Headquartered in Salisbury, MD, the brokerage and consulting firm is comprised of nine advisors who serve the tri-state area.
