The Land Group Celebrates One Year Anniversary

First Year Marked by Rapid Growth and Expansion into Solar Consulting

SALISBURY, MARYLAND, AUGUST 14, 2020 – The Land Group, the largest singularly focused land company in the Chesapeake Bay Region, recently marked their first full year of business.  “After opening the office in the Summer of 2019, then quickly expanding into other land markets on the Western Shore of Maryland and Pennsylvania, we have barely had time to take stock,” said Ben Alder, Principal of The Land Group (TLG).  TLG’s growth in Baltimore, Carroll and Charles Counties has been focused around rural land brokerage and land consulting.  In Pennsylvania, TLG’s presence is primarily focused on solar development.

Over the past year, TLG has gained several new consulting clients in both the private and non-profit sectors. On the private side The Land Group serves solar developers in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.  “Our growth into the solar industry has been both interesting and humbling. There has been as much failure as there has been success, but we continue to work on our services to the industry and determine the right way we can add value,” said Alder. “With our experienced team of professionals who focus on land use, we are well positioned to provide assistance in the solar consulting field using Geographic Information Systems and our extensive outreach strategy.” 

“While 2020 has not been the most straightforward year, the land market in our Chesapeake region has remained incredibly strong and we are on pace for an outstanding year,” Alder remarked. “We manage a land portfolio of more than 35,000 acres and growing, which indicates the stability of our land market even during an uncertain economy. There are a multitude of reasons for a strong land market, but I think they each revolve around owning tangible assets that sustain us with food, fiber and shelter.  Additionally, we each recognize the importance of space and distance from the busy and sometimes crazy world today and land provides that refuge.”
