Jeremy Bertier - Advisor
Jeremy was born and raised on his families 165 acre farm in Union Bridge in Northwest Carroll County. Jeremy and his wife currently farm this land and operate it as a diverse operation consisting of 75 head of angus cattle, a group of Berkshire pigs, Non GMO row crops and premium quality hay and pasture.
Jeremy attended the University of MD at College Park and obtained his Ag Business Management degree through the Institute of Applied Agriculture. While there Jeremy was a brother in the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity which is the only social/professional fraternity on campus and the only Agricultural fraternity. Jeremy was also a member of the of the University of Maryland Ag Student Council which was the elected executive body of the School of Ag and Natural Resources student government.
After college Jeremy worked for Synagro which was the nations largest biosolids and residuals management company. Jeremy managed the Western MD landbase dealing with participating farmers and the local, state and national regulators on land permitting and regulation compliance. While in this position Jeremy grew the permitted farm land base to its largest acreage to date.
After Synagro, Jeremy worked for Old Line Environmental which was a new start up company that also handled biosolids and was able to utilize new thinking and technology to turn what many looked at as waste into a valuable post consumer product that was treated and blended to form consumer friendly products that could be used for landscaping and govt improvement projects. Jeremy personally facilitated the closure and rehabilitation of an environmentally sensitive cleanup in Allegany County and helped to build a system of industry cooperators willing to test and utilize processed and blended products that came through the states first approved Biosolids treatment and processing system that we built in Curtis Bay.
Jeremy currently holds a commercial Nutrient Management License in MD and does plan writing as a side project during the winter months and soil sampling and agronomy work during the growing season. Jeremy is currently in the process of getting CAPP certified to be a licensed crop adjuster for the crop insurance industry working through ProAg.
