Finishing School

5:25 AM – July 19, 2016

It has certainly taken a while but we officially miss Ellie Bird.  Our little two year old yellow Labrador has been in finishing school this summer.  Old Town Retrievers down in Eastville, VA had the task of finishing what I simply have not had the time to do in finishing her Jedi training (sorry but our household remains entrenched in Star Wars), into becoming a full duck dog.  Ryan and Whitney Sayers have accomplished much with Ellie since delivering her to their farm nearly 90 days ago.  She is delivering bumpers to hand and moving X-Wing Fighter Planes using the Force!

I believe the “official notice” of missing Ellie arrived last week when I realized the kids were lying in the floor of the bait shop on top of the owner’s yellow lab.  They both simultaneously looked up and reminded me that we needed to go get our Ellie Bird from Virginia.  Honestly, I could live in a one dog house but what fun would that be and since we lost Lady Jane (our dear 14 year old Golden Retriever) I think the house has been a little too calm.

Not to worry, it won’t last much longer; Ellie Bird will be graduating soon from her southern finishing school and I will go get her in a week or so.  Now my only task will be to actually find some ducks this fall, but I am sure with Ellie’s new Jedi abilities that won’t be a problem. Onward!
